How to Install Geo-Restricted/Unavailable Apps from Amazon Appstore?
However, you will be unable to install some apps directly from the Amazon Appstore due to geo-restrictions. For example, while Hulu is listed on the Amazon App Store, it’s unavailable outside the US.
So if you try to install it outside the US, you will see it as “Unavailable.” 👇
You can also install Hulu on FireStick from the Amazon Appstore outside of the US, but it will require you to change your Amazon account to a US address.
P.S. Once you have changed the address, restart the Fire TV Stick. If you still see the Hulu app “unavailable“ or “Purchasing Failure” error, wait for a few minutes and then try again.
Method 2: Install Apps from Downloader App
The Downloader app is the most popular tool for installing apps on FireStick that are not available in the Amazon Appstore.
It works by letting users download APK files directly using a URL or code (known as Downloader code). Compared to the App Store method, Downloader gives users access to a much wider range of apps.
To use this method, you will have to first Jailbreak FireStick and then follow the steps below:
- Install the “Downloader app” from the Amazon App Store
- Open the app
- Enter the “APK URL or code” in the search bar
- Download the file
- Click “Install” and open the app
P.S. The downloader method does not work on FireSticks with the Vega OS. Currently, there’s only FireStick model with the Vega OS, i.e., FireStick 4K Select.
Method 3: Install Apps from Mobile
Recently, Amazon removed Downloader from Amazon Appstore, and everyone panicked. Well, if that happens again, you can also send APKs directly to FireStick from mobile.

Jailbreaking (also referred to as sideloading) is the process of enabling developer options from settings to install apps outside of the Amazon App Store.
In case you’re wondering, jailbreaking is completely legal. However, people jailbreak FireStick to gain access to a wider range of content via third-party apps.
Therefore, you must use a VPN to protect your online security. We recommend using Surfshark VPN as it is pretty affordable and allows unlimited device connections.

Hello Deborah, make sure you’re using the original power adapter and not the USB port on your Samsung TV. If this doesnt work, unplug the FireStick from both the HDMI port and the power source, wait about 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
